Temple Fair with Myself

Temple Fair with Myself 2.0 (2022)
A contemporary reinterpretation of Taiwanese temple fair culture, staged within a historic temple setting.
Inspired by the vibrant sounds of gongs and cymbals common in traditional celebrations, the work combines percussion, electronic sound, and ritual movement. Everyday objects are transformed into instruments, and performance merges with elements of lion dance puppetry.
Set against the backdrop of temple rituals dedicated to Nezha (the Third Prince), the piece explores the tension between festive spectacle and inner solitude — balancing cultural memory with contemporary expression.
